How to Pack for Student Summer Storage

Packing properly for summer storage protects your belongings and keeps your storage cost down, because we charge per item. Follow these steps before our driver arrives.

What you need

  • Strong boxes, ideally the same size so they stack
  • Packing tape, marker pens and labels
  • Bubble wrap or towels for fragile items
  • Suitcases, holdalls and bin bags with ties for soft items

How to pack

  • Books and heavy items go in small boxes so they can be lifted safely.
  • Clothes and bedding go in clean, dry bags or suitcases. Never pack anything damp.
  • Kitchen items should be washed, dried and wrapped in paper or towels.
  • Electronics go in their original boxes if you still have them. Take cables and chargers you will need over summer.
  • Bikes can be stored as they are, or with the pedals and handlebars turned in.

Label everything

Write your name, the room and the contents on two sides of every box. Make a quick list on your phone so you know what is where when term starts.

What not to store

  • Food, liquids and anything perishable
  • Valuables such as passports, jewellery and cash: take these with you
  • Anything flammable, such as gas canisters or petrol

How our storage works

We collect from your address, store your items and deliver them to your new address when term starts. Storage is £1.15 per item per week with a 4-week minimum, plus a £38 one-off collection and redelivery charge. Full details on the student luggage storage page.
