Housemate Group Moves – Share a Van and Save

Moving out with housemates? Sharing one van is usually the cheapest way to do it, and it means one booking, one driver and one trip.

How a group move works

1. Agree one pickup address and one or more drop-off addresses.
2. One person books through the instant quote and pays the 30% deposit.
3. Everyone adds their items to the list. Label boxes with each person’s name.
4. Split the final bill, including the 10% student discount, by item count or equally.

Example

Four housemates with about 15 boxes each, a few bags and two bikes could fit into an LWB Transit or a 3.5 tonne Luton. At the hourly rate, a 2-hour minimum job costs from £76 in an MWB (£68.40 with the student discount), or £85.50 in an LWB (£76.95 with the discount). Divided four ways, that is a few pounds each.

Tips for housemates

• Decide who is responsible for communicating with the driver.
• Pack and label early so loading is quick.
• Put shared items, such as the TV and kitchenware, in clearly marked boxes.
• Extra drop-offs add time and miles, so tell us all addresses upfront.
