End of Term Moving Guide for Yorkshire Students

Every summer thousands of students in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, York and Huddersfield move on the same few days. Here is how to avoid the rush.

Key dates to know

• Late May – June: halls contracts end and exams finish. Busiest weeks of the year.
• 30 June / 1 July: many house-share tenancies end and start. Book 3–4 weeks ahead.
• Mid-September: new tenancies, move-in week and storage redelivery.
• December: short-stay and exchange students leaving – book 2 weeks ahead.

Our tips

• Book a weekday or evening slot – they are cheaper to fit in and easier to get.
• If your new tenancy starts later than the old one ends, use storage instead of two trips home.
• Group up with housemates to share a van.
• Keep receipts and photos for your tenancy deposit.
